Haley & Tyler may not have gotten married in the Bahamas as their invites showed (thanks Corona), but I am pretty sure The Carriage House of Yorktown made their day just as special. I loved being able to capture these two, their bridal party, and all of their family. (Part one of their Wedding Preview, because I may have went a little over board with editing their preview photos! Be on the lookout for family and bridal party photos later this morning.) I am so glad that I got to meet these two super sweet people and photograph their special day.
Read MoreEmma & Brandon drove from Ohio to scout out some wedding venues and had me capture their engagement photos while they were visiting! As soon as they walked up, a dog was running loose, so I threw my camera down and went chasing it (naturally). After the dog was safe and back with its’ owners, I introduced myself. Within just a few seconds, Emma looks down at my insulin pump (if you didn’t know already, I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for over 17 years) and says, “are you a diabetic?”, and raises her shirt to show me her dexcom sensor! Automatically we connect, because if you are a type 1 diabetic and see each other in public, you are automatically best friends (if you didn’t know that, now you know!) After we talked a while about our dead pancreases, we began shooting at Morrow’s Meadows! These two were so naturally in love, I asked them about how they met and they told me they met on Bumble. She told me that on Bumble, the girl has to reach out to the guy, so she made the first move. I told her about how my boyfriend and I met, and how I walked up to him and shook his hand and said, “Hi, I’m Kyla, what’s your name?” I had such blast capturing these two, and their love for one another! They were so cuddly and cute while bumping hips and almost knocking each other over, cuddling on a log and telling their own inside jokes to make each other laugh.
Read MoreI got the opportunity to capture Riley, who is a senior at Yorktown high School graduating this Sunday. Her momma wanted a session with her 12 year old dog Gypsy, so that is what we did! I absolutely love being able to capture pets in photo sessions. When I was a senior in high school, I lost my childhood dog, Biscuit to old age. That previous summer I had had photos taken in my backyard with him and those photos mean the world to me. Being able to look back at those images, after he was gone is so special to me, and I will hold on to those for the rest of my life.
Read MoreSince my highschool senior year when I decided I wanted to become a photographer, I knew I wanted to open my own studio one day. In my head this was such an unrealistic DREAM that I never thought it would actually happen. I assumed that I would be 30/40 years old with kids before I would actually be able to do it, if I could even do it then! After several months of looking at places to rent or buy and nothing seemed to be "just right", I found a space that needed a lot of work but it was PERFECT! After a lot of hard work from Dean, Cory & JR... I HAVE A STUDIO SPACE and a waiting room is in the works! I am so happy with how it turned out, I got to completely start from scratch and pick out the colors, trim, flooring, furniture, and design it to fit Kyla Jo Photography's style PERFECTLY! Thank you to my family who has pushed me and encouraged me to reach for my dreams, for all of the props that they have donated and to all of my clients who have helped me get here! I am so thankful for all of it! I now have an indoor studio space for newborns, children, headshots, pets, boudoir, and anything you can imagine! Here is just a little sneak peek at what my studio looks like and some of the details such as the flooring, paint color, furniture, location, my favorite parts, and some of my props!
