Lauren & Her Dog Luigi - Dog Photoshoot

Lauren is my hairdresser and I just adore her! She scheduled a session with me last time I was in her salon chair and the Indiana weather pushed it back a bit, but we finally got to meet at her grandparent’s property to capture her and Luigi together. Luigi is such a well behaved dog, and was cracking me up when he would get the zoomies and run across the yard! He loved all the cuddles with his momma, and all the treats that followed each photo. I loveeee photographing dogs and their owners, because dogs are like children and best friends all in one. When I was a senior and my dog Biscuit was 12 years old, I had photos taken at my home with him and my dog Ellie May. Biscuit passed later that year and those photos still sit on my book shelf. This past year, I had branding photos taken for my website and brought my dog Kip along. Those photos are so important to me, knowing that Kip won’t be around for forever, and knowing that I have those special photos to hold on to for the rest of my life.

Caitlin's Senior Photos - With Her Horses and Dog

Caitlin has two senior sessions this fall, her first was at home with her two horses and puppers. The property was gorgeous especially at sunset. I can’t wait to shoot again next Monday with Caitlin for her second round of photos at Minnetrista and the Craddock Nature Reserve. If you have pets that you want to include in your senior photos, I 100% urge you to include them! When I had my senior photos taken (almost 10 years ago) I included my two dogs and that photo still sits on my shelf today. I lost my collie less than a year later and treasure those photos so much.

Your senior photos should include your passions/hobbies/items/animals that are important to YOU, not just a fad that is popular at the moment.

Leah's Senior Session - Downtown Muncie & At Home With Her Horse

I am always down for a unique session. When Leah’s mom told me that she wanted senior photos with her horse, I was like HECK YES! We started her session in downtown Muncie, with the assistance of her mom and 2 younger sisters. Her youngest sister (Paige age 10) brought her camera and shot besides me throughout the session. It was so stinking sweet to see such a young person take such an interest in photography and watching what I was doing. After we left downtown Muncie, we headed to her home in Delta. Their property was absolutely gorgeous, with a large field, her beautiful horse, and an amazing sunset at the end of her session.

I am always excited for a unique photo session, especially when that session includes animals. When Leah’s mom told me that she wanted senior photos with her horse, I did a HAPPY DANCE! Their property was absolutely gorgeous, with a large field, her beautiful horse, and an amazing sunset at the end of her session. We just had our second half of her senior session yesterday, and I can’t wait to edit and share those here soon!

If you are thinking of including something unique and important to you in your senior session, PLEASE DO! I send every senior a form to fill out while we are scheduling their session, so I can help make their session as unique and custom to them as possible. I don’t want every senior’s experience to be at the exact same location and look the same for every senior. Everyone is different and I want to make sure and customize their senior session to fit them and reflect how they are as an individual.

Riley With Her Dog Gypsy

I got the opportunity to capture Riley, who is a senior at Yorktown high School graduating this Sunday. Her momma wanted a session with her 12 year old dog Gypsy, so that is what we did! I absolutely love being able to capture pets in photo sessions. When I was a senior in high school, I lost my childhood dog, Biscuit to old age. That previous summer I had had photos taken in my backyard with him and those photos mean the world to me. Being able to look back at those images, after he was gone is so special to me, and I will hold on to those for the rest of my life.
