Oh Owen, I photographed him as a newborn, and his older brother and sweet sweet family. We laughed and laughed throughout this session, his contagious smile, the fact that his older brother may have puked as soon as they got to the studio, the time that his mom dropped chocolate cake on my head, when dad walked in to the wrong door and into the owner’s apartment and so many more reasons. We literally were laying on the floor in laughter at one point with tears running down our faces. It’s those kind of clients that are keepers and make my job soooo much more fun than it already is. Thank you to the Brown family, mostly Robyn for this adorable set up and theme. She brought bags and bags of props into the studio and we created this set up together with a mixture of her props and my own. This woodsy, Buffalo plaid, First Birthday Milestone shoot was one of my favorites! Happy First Birthday Owen! You are too stinking cute with those cheeks!
Read MoreI have captured Rhys since he was in his mom’s belly. His mom, Kelsey came up with the cutest set up for his 1 year photos. She brought pumpkins and Peter Rabbit props. She even made the pumpkin cake by hand, GO HER! We started his session at Minnetrista in the garden (very fitting for his Peter Rabbit fall themed shoot) and ended at the studio for his adorable cake smash. He was not in love with the taste of cake, but he did like sticking his little toes in it.
Read MoreLook at little Deaglan! He was on the move his entire session, we were all following him around Whitetail Tree Farm's and letting him lead the way! I photographed his 1 year photos 7 months ago and he has grown up so much in that short time. This adorable little outfit was his dad's when he was a toddler and they wanted to include it in photos, and I was so happy they did!
Read MoreThis is the 3rd time I have worked with the Sorg family, and I absolutely love them! They are my kind of people, I always find myself laughing and smiling throughout their entire session, behind the camera and while we are just talking after words. I am so thankful for repeat clients like them! Here is a little peak at their Mother’s Day Mini session, how cute are they?!
Read MoreSo when I was in preschool we passed the microphone around the stage at graduation and told the audience what we wanted to be when we grew up, I said "I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up!" Then nervously passed that mic to the next kid. I later on learned that veterinarians had to put animals down when they were sick or old, so I changed that dream real quick and just decided I would own all the dogs and cats I could. Now that I am doing my dream job, with several animals of my own, I get to photograph the cutest doggies ever, and it makes my heart so happy!
Check out Finnegan, and his two sweet parents, Kellyn & Christian Reid.
I was so happy when they came strolling up with the cutest doggo Finn for a Mother's Day Mini!
Read MoreHadley and Charlotte were the sweetest little blue eyed blonde sisters to work with! We captured Hadley’s 1 year photos in the studio along with some photos of her and her big sister Charlotte. While Hadley was getting changed, Charlotte helped take photos of her dollies on my props and it was adorable. Happy 1 year to little Hadley, thanks for visiting me in the studio!

I can not wait to work with her again for her 1st Birthday party and watch her dig into her cake! We even snuck a few Easter Photos into her session, she was the perfect little model!

Oh my word! Where do I start with this adorable unique little family? So James and Elyssa travel all over the place with the fair with their two little girls! Do you know how much respect I have for this family, I can’t imagine having two little girls within 10 months of each other and expecting a third while TRAVELING 6 months of out of the year!
It rained and rained this past week and I thought we were going to catch a small break from the pouring rain… but I was wrong. I messaged Elyssa and told her I would understand if she wanted to reschedule, I was expecting a “Yes I will need to reschedule to a time when its not pouring!” But instead I got a “We might as well go for it!” (I was so excited!)
We got to the White river and it was just sprinkling, so we got out and started our photo session under a tree and then headed down to the river. As soon as we got down to the water it started raining even harder, we then headed across the street to a small park, it of course started raining harder. Elyssa, James, nor the two kids ever complained. I kept apologizing that it was raining so hard and she could have cared less! They all rocked this session and it was honestly so sweet and romantic, with the two cuddling up to each other in the rain, dancing with each other, and watching the two kiddos play and splash in the rain puddles. I am so excited to share a few photos from this perfect session! Thank you Elyssa & James for being AMAZING clients and just going with the flow!
Read MoreSince my highschool senior year when I decided I wanted to become a photographer, I knew I wanted to open my own studio one day. In my head this was such an unrealistic DREAM that I never thought it would actually happen. I assumed that I would be 30/40 years old with kids before I would actually be able to do it, if I could even do it then! After several months of looking at places to rent or buy and nothing seemed to be "just right", I found a space that needed a lot of work but it was PERFECT! After a lot of hard work from Dean, Cory & JR... I HAVE A STUDIO SPACE and a waiting room is in the works! I am so happy with how it turned out, I got to completely start from scratch and pick out the colors, trim, flooring, furniture, and design it to fit Kyla Jo Photography's style PERFECTLY! Thank you to my family who has pushed me and encouraged me to reach for my dreams, for all of the props that they have donated and to all of my clients who have helped me get here! I am so thankful for all of it! I now have an indoor studio space for newborns, children, headshots, pets, boudoir, and anything you can imagine! Here is just a little sneak peek at what my studio looks like and some of the details such as the flooring, paint color, furniture, location, my favorite parts, and some of my props!
