Scroll to that last photo to see Berkley Rios & Courtney Thomas waving goodbye to their "F" balloon. It got a little bit windy, and as we were walking to the car the midwest derecho started. You would never know when looking through their session. This BFF session was full of laughs, dog kisses, best friend cuddles and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I offered Best Friend Sessions back before Covid started, and we finally got it scheduled. They brought their bikes, adorable dogs, men (to carry all the props around haha), a picnic, BFF Balloons, super cute hats, a letter-board and of course matching jump suits!

His parents are in for a lot of adventures, bruised knees, ripped pants, and bandaids raising this little boy.
He loved climbing on all of the props, standing on the rocking chair, and getting cake all over himself. He is such an adorable and sweet little boy and I loved working with him and his family to capture his 1 year photos in the studio.
Caroline was such a blast to work with, we had the most perfect weather, so many laughs, and captured the most gorgeous photos of her! She was so adventurous as she climbed through all the prickly weeds! I loved working with Caroline and capturing her senior photos. I also found some new spots here in Muncie, if you are looking to schedule your senior photos and like any of these gorgeous locations let me know!

Read MoreEmma & Brandon drove from Ohio to scout out some wedding venues and had me capture their engagement photos while they were visiting! As soon as they walked up, a dog was running loose, so I threw my camera down and went chasing it (naturally). After the dog was safe and back with its’ owners, I introduced myself. Within just a few seconds, Emma looks down at my insulin pump (if you didn’t know already, I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for over 17 years) and says, “are you a diabetic?”, and raises her shirt to show me her dexcom sensor! Automatically we connect, because if you are a type 1 diabetic and see each other in public, you are automatically best friends (if you didn’t know that, now you know!) After we talked a while about our dead pancreases, we began shooting at Morrow’s Meadows! These two were so naturally in love, I asked them about how they met and they told me they met on Bumble. She told me that on Bumble, the girl has to reach out to the guy, so she made the first move. I told her about how my boyfriend and I met, and how I walked up to him and shook his hand and said, “Hi, I’m Kyla, what’s your name?” I had such blast capturing these two, and their love for one another! They were so cuddly and cute while bumping hips and almost knocking each other over, cuddling on a log and telling their own inside jokes to make each other laugh.
Read MoreThis is the 3rd time I have worked with the Sorg family, and I absolutely love them! They are my kind of people, I always find myself laughing and smiling throughout their entire session, behind the camera and while we are just talking after words. I am so thankful for repeat clients like them! Here is a little peak at their Mother’s Day Mini session, how cute are they?!
Read MoreOH MY, Where do I start? These two boys were so stinking adorable! Aiden was only 1 month old, and was the cutest 10 pound+ newborn! His gorgeous blue eyes, kept looking right into the camera, and I could not have asked for more ( I did not even mind that he was awake the entire session! ) Liam, is going to be the best big brother to Aiden, I hope to see them back in the studio as they both grow!

I had been scouting locations for a couple weeks for my Mother's Day Minis, and I found this location with some great spots, I arrived for the session and was even happier about all the greenery and gorgeous white blooms that had come in on the trees, in just the past week! I am looking forward to all of my mother’s day minis this weekend, so far I have 13 scheduled and a couple pending!
This blog post is for those of you who have scheduled a session with Kyla Jo Photography and now you are wondering, “Where should we have our session?”
These are some of the locations in Indiana and around Muncie that are some of my favorites. I will include reasons why I love these spots and which spots are best for families, seniors, pets, newborns, maternity, couples, and children sessions.
Read MoreI met Kayla and Courtney earlier this year when I photographed their wedding, Kayla contacted me to capture family photos of her, her wife, two little brothers, and mom at Whitetail Tree Farm and I could not have been happier! Their entire family was such a blast to work with and I am so glad that they came back for more photos so soon.
Read MoreI have known Malory since first grade, she was one of the first friends I made in Mrs. Lane’s class. We both graduated together from Wapahani and then roomed together our freshman year of college at Indiana Wesleyan, where I witnessed Ben propose to Malory! It was so amazing to be able to capture their adorable family and meet little Charlie for the first time! Charlie was wide awake and so smiley I loved capturing all of her expressions. I had a blast catching up with Malory and Ben and capturing so many cute photos of them loving on each other.
Read MoreOh where do I start!?! Kiley & Coty’s wedding was absolutely perfect! The couple were so sweet, so in love, and so much fun to work with all day! The family and their bridal party were so sweet and so helpful and kept the dance floor full all night! The groom’s mother decorated the ceremony arbor with floral that had looked like a professional florist’s work! The bride’s father hosted the entire event at his gorgeous home. Years ago he had acquired a bottle of Crown Royal that was from the year he was born and told everyone he wouldn’t open it until his daughter’s wedding, the entire bridal party and family enjoyed a shot or two together after his toast to the bride and groom. I am so happy that I got the chance to capture this beautiful wedding and help preserve memories from their very special day!
Read MoreSince my highschool senior year when I decided I wanted to become a photographer, I knew I wanted to open my own studio one day. In my head this was such an unrealistic DREAM that I never thought it would actually happen. I assumed that I would be 30/40 years old with kids before I would actually be able to do it, if I could even do it then! After several months of looking at places to rent or buy and nothing seemed to be "just right", I found a space that needed a lot of work but it was PERFECT! After a lot of hard work from Dean, Cory & JR... I HAVE A STUDIO SPACE and a waiting room is in the works! I am so happy with how it turned out, I got to completely start from scratch and pick out the colors, trim, flooring, furniture, and design it to fit Kyla Jo Photography's style PERFECTLY! Thank you to my family who has pushed me and encouraged me to reach for my dreams, for all of the props that they have donated and to all of my clients who have helped me get here! I am so thankful for all of it! I now have an indoor studio space for newborns, children, headshots, pets, boudoir, and anything you can imagine! Here is just a little sneak peek at what my studio looks like and some of the details such as the flooring, paint color, furniture, location, my favorite parts, and some of my props!
