Stacie and Aaron's Fairytale Wedding
A Fairytale Wedding with a dirtbike reception entrance! This wedding was absolutely beautiful and such a fun day. Stacie and Aaron, were so laid back throughout the day, and then partied at their reception. Stacie wore her princess crown, and rode in on her dirtbike. That’s my kind of bride!

Addison & Hunter's Wedding at Barn Thirty-Eight
These two know how to throw a party! I was laughing and smiling the entire day from behind the camera, jamming out while getting ready, bouquets getting thrown in the air during bridal party photos, kissing and cuddles from Hunter and Addison, and such a beautiful day for a wedding! So many special moments, their preview had me smiling while editing remembering back to their wedding day.

Makayla & Joe's Wedding at The Country Club
I absolutely loved capturing Makayla & Joe’s wedding day at the Delaware Country Club this September. They were the coolest and laid back couple ever. Their first look was stinking adorable, their ceremony was held during a golf tournament and the two of them could not have cared less who was around them, Makayla & her dad’s father daughter dance had everyone smiling and cheering. Makayla & Joe are made for one another and I loved being able to capture their love for one another and their family’s love for them!

Covid Changing Wedding Traditions (not all bad)
Covid (the most hated word of 2020) has created a lot of new wedding traditions, not all bad. This sweet couple decided to go and get eloped when Covid canceled their wedding plans. We met early in the morning at Minnetrista, captured their wedding portraits just with the two of them, and then they drove away to get married. I actually LOVE that these two did not care about the wedding itself, but instead their love for one another and their marriage.

Haley & Tyler Stockton's Wedding at The Carriage House of Yorktown
Haley & Tyler may not have gotten married in the Bahamas as their invites showed (thanks Corona), but I am pretty sure The Carriage House of Yorktown made their day just as special. I loved being able to capture these two, their bridal party, and all of their family. (Part one of their Wedding Preview, because I may have went a little over board with editing their preview photos! Be on the lookout for family and bridal party photos later this morning.) I am so glad that I got to meet these two super sweet people and photograph their special day.

What DETAILS To Have Ready For Your Photographer On Your Wedding Day
Are you a bride planning your wedding and trying to think ahead so you have little to no stress on your wedding day? This blog was written for you then! I talk about what to have prepared and laid out for your wedding photographer to make detail photos go smoothly and leave nothing out.
Are you a bride who wants to have everything planned out before your wedding day to help eliminate unnecessary stress and worries? Then this blog is written just for you!
I have photographed over 80 weddings over the past 4 years and I have worked with all different types of brides. Those who have had a packet typed out for me with detailed instructions and were so relaxed and prepared on their wedding day, some who winged it the day of and showed up late to their own wedding, and some who really just let me take full control. I LOVE THEM ALL! Though there is one thing that I have learned, when I arrive and can not find any of the details such as rings, jewelry, shoes, the dress, invites, perfume and earrings it takes away from time that I could be shooting and planning the detail shots and also seems to be stressful to the bride when they are running around trying to collect everything for me.
When I have arrived and everything was laid out, I got to dive right in and start planning the detail shots and dress photos without having to rush or bug the bride. If you are a bride, your photographer will thank you so much if you have everything laid out together on a table or in a box near the dress.
Now what are some items that you could think about including and having prepared?
His & Her wedding bands and the bride’s engagement ring ( I bring my own white velvet ring boxes or I can use personalized ones you have)
The wedding dress
If you have a personalized hanger or a nice wooden/velvet one
Invites if you want to include them (it’s a great way to include the date, location, and your names into your wedding photos effortlessly)
Earrings
Necklace
Bracelets
Bouquet
Shoes
Veil
Any sentimental items (lockets, something borrowed, something blue, something old)
Garter
Vows (always a personal touch)
Hair Clips
Perfume ( I have used the same type of perfume since I was in high school, so it is like a piece of me, so I would include it)
Any ribbons, accessories, flowers, or personal items that scream you!
Now, don’t feel like you have to include all of these! These are just suggestions that I have photographed in the past. I always tell my brides to wait to get in their dress until I have gotten photos of it hanging with the shoes and veil if there is one. I love capturing the bride getting in to their dress with the help of their mom or maid of honor. Waiting to put on your earrings, lipstick, bracelet, necklace, shoes, and veil are also a great idea until after you are in your dress. The photos of mom or grandma helping you get ready are priceless!
Booking Your Wedding Photographer
Are you planning a wedding in 2020 or 2021? There are so many choices when it comes to choosing all of your vendors, it can get a bit overwhelming. I would love to tell you a little bit about what you can expect from booking Kyla Jo Photography as your wedding photographer.
Are you planning a wedding?
There are so many choices when it comes to choosing all of your vendors, it can get a bit overwhelming. I would love to tell you a little bit about what you can expect from booking Kyla Jo Photography as your wedding photographer. But first, I am going to tell you a little bit about me, or you can keep scrolling down (I won’t be offended!)
My name is Kyla Jo Tighe, and I will have photographed over 100 weddings after 2020. I graduated from Wapahani High school in 2012, and graduated from Ball State University in 2017 with my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Photography. I am a full time photographer based out of Muncie, Indiana but love to travel!
I’m a lover of ALL animals, the outdoors, chicken nuggets and pizza, Diet Pepsi, jeggings, & throwback 90’s hip-hop playlists on Spotify. I love to be outdoors (especially in the fall), you will find me (when I am not photographing) at an Indiana state park exploring new places with my boyfriend and doggos in our camper.
I have a 6.5 year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (Kip), a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute (Carbon), an 18 pound Maine Coon Cat (Mugsy), & an alien one eared cat (Lil Dipper). These guys are my entire world, believe me I would take all the animals home with me if I could!
Enough about me, back to booking your wedding and what to expect from me!
❤️Timeless photos that document your special day and gorgeous portraits of the two of you. I capture a mixture of candids and natural portraits so that you have a variety of photos.
❤️A LARGE preview within a week of your wedding that has every family photo, bridesmaid, groomsmen, and highlight of your wedding day included (I might go a little overboard on the previews, but I get so excited and want to include every little bit of your wedding day in them!)
❤️A photographer who is not only your photographer, but your friend, dress fluffer, hair fixer, supporter, and will giggle and genuinely tear up with you throughout your wedding day!
❤️A timeline that I customize just for you and your wedding day! No wedding is the same, and that is why I don't charge by the day but by the hour. No cookie cutter timeline, I sit down with you and go through your family portraits, how many people you have in your bridal party, what you expect from your wedding and what you don't want! I then create your timeline so that you don't feel rushed and you get to enjoy every little bit of your day.
❤️I also offer professional high quality prints, canvases, and albums that I customize for you and order so you can show off in your home for the rest of your lives and/or gift for your family members.
❤️I am not just a wedding photographer, I capture engagements, maternity, family, newborn, children, seniors, and pets. That means, that once your wedding is over you don't have to start the process all over again...I am a lifetime photographer, I can capture all of your special moments from when you say I do until your child graduates from high school. I love staying connected with my clients and watching their love grow into families.
Here is a little run through of what the process looks like when booking Kyla Jo Photography:
1. Booking & Planning
Upon inquiring with Kyla Jo Photography, you will receive my wedding pricing and contract with all of the details you need to know about pricing and package options. After looking over my pricing and contract, we can schedule a time to meet at Starbucks or my photo studio. When we meet I will bring worksheets for us to go over and fill out together and will help create a schedule for your special day. You are welcome to sign and book your wedding that day in person, or take it home and mail it in at a later date. Once things are booked and we’re officially official, we will begin planning all of the fun details for your engagement shoot!
2. Engagement Session
The fun begins! After working together to choose the perfect location, we will spend an hour or more together to shoot your engagement photos! Your only job during our session is to cuddle up and smile with your fiance - I will lead you through posing for the entire shoot and tell you lame jokes to make you laugh. This is a time for us to get to know one another, get comfortable working together and allow you to spend time together in front of the camera with no stress! These photos will be back to you within a month and ready to print or create a guest album for your wedding day. (Engagement sessions are not included in your wedding booking, but you receive half off your engagement session when you book Kyla Jo Photography for your wedding!)
3. Final Phone Call or Email
As your wedding day approaches, I will be available to help with anything and everything you need - vendor recommendations, timeline preparation, planning suggestions and more. When we are just a few weeks out we will plan a phone call, if you are comfortable with all of the schedule and details we can just email back and forth. We do all of this to finalize timelines and answer last-minute questions. That way, you can wake up on your wedding day entirely stress free and ready to marry that man of your dreams!
4. Your BIG Day
Your BIG day is finally here, YAY! My goal on your wedding day is to ensure that it is as fun, easy and stress-free as possible, so that you can take it all in. I will be there to capture every moment, from beginning to end, so that you have memories to last your lifetime and your children’s children’s lifetime.
5. Gallery Delivery
You will receive a sneak peek of your wedding day within a week of your wedding. Your sneak peek will be on the blog and on Facebook for you to share with your friends and family. You can expect to receive your final finished gallery approximately 8 weeks following your wedding day. Your beautifully displayed online gallery is where you are able to download, share and print all of the high-resolution digital files. You will also receive a physical flash drive with your print release.
6. Album Design
I offer a variety of different style and sized wedding albums, I will bring several of them with me to our first meeting so that you can see some of the choices. We will work together to create beautifully designed spreads, choose cover options and finalize details for your album before it’s printed. Along with the albums, I offer professionally printed photo canvases and prints for your walls at home. I believe that your photos should be printed and preserved for you to share with others and flipped through with your family.
Now what is this going to cost us?
2020 wedding packages with high resolution digital files, a flash drive, online gallery, and print release begin at $600 for 2 hours up to $3,000 for a full 10 hours. Your wedding day is not the same as everyone else’s, that is why I allow you to create and customize how long you book with me. With a minimum of 2 hours, I am flexible to fit your special day.
All packages include a flash drive with all of your edited images, a print release, and online gallery with full resolution images to share, download and the option to order professional quality prints, albums, and canvases.
For more information about wedding packages, email me at kylajotighe@gmail.com or fill out the form below, and I will reach out as quickly as possible.
I look forward to sitting down with you and talking about you special day!
Austin & Ariana's Wedding at the Delaware Country Club
When a couple loves like this couple loves one another, capturing their wedding day is just so easy! Any moment they could be kissing and holding each other, they were. From the moment I saw these two together, I knew they were meant to be. They love one another so effortlessly and that showed through in all of their wedding photos. It was reallllly windy and chilly out on their wedding day, but Austin Burton wrapped Ariana up in her coat and carried her from spot to spot, he played her a song on his guitar, and admired her the entire day. I have known Austin since we were young, and this is the happiest I have ever seen him. Congratulations you two on a beautiful wedding, and future together! Thanks for being such troopers in the cold and making me ohh and ahhh over you guys all day!

Ruthie & Anthony's Wedding at The Carriage House of Yorktown
Ruthie & Anthony were married at The Carriage House of Yorktown, and it was such an elegant and classy day with such beautiful fall weather. Ruthie had such a special way of including her father and mother in her wedding day. She did a first look with her dad after her mom helped her into her wedding dress, she did a dance with her dad and then surprised her mom with a special dance that brought her to tears, and both parents gave such sweet speeches at the reception. It was an amazing day at such a gorgeous venue. All of the bridal party were so much fun to work with and so supportive through out their special day. Thank you guys for having me capture your wedding day and also having the photo booth at your reception, you have so many fun photos from all of your guests! Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon!

Marissa & Josh's Wedding At The Ballroom At Cardinal Hills
Marissa & Josh Jones were married at The Ballroom at Cardinal Hill’s on October 12, 2019 and their entire day was absolutely magical. Marissa was an absolute QUEEN! The two of them prayed with their bridal party, worshipped during their ceremony, cut pie in place of their cake, and had the most beautiful vows written to each other. Their love for one another showed throughout every moment of their wedding day and I can not wait to see what the future holds for the two of them, I know it will be AMAZING! Thank you for having me capture your love story!

Danielle and Drake's Wedding At The Barn at Cottonwood with Kyla Jo Photography
Danielle & Drake were married on October 5, 2019 at The Barn at Cottonwood in Parker City, Indiana. They are high school sweethearts and had the two most adorable doggies who were included on their special day. Their bridal party was so much fun to photograph and a huge part of their day. I think I laughed and smiled more at their reception than I ever have before, the dance floor was full almost the entire time! Thank you Danielle & Drake for having me capture your wedding day, I might have went a little over board with your preview! Woops!

Ariel & Matthew's Wedding Day at Meg's Country Celebrations with Kyla Jo Photography
Ariel & Matthew Brown's wedding was held at Meg's Country Celebrations last Sunday and the rain did not stop us from capturing gorgeous photos of their special day. They decided to move their ceremony inside the barn, but as soon as it was over the rain cleared up for beautiful photos. The two wore their Vans on their feet and a smile on their face the entire day. They kissed a million times and it made me smile each time, seeing their love for one another so apparent! So many special dances were held in that barn during their reception and Baby Shark was even played for all of the little ones! Congratulations to Ariel and Matthew on your wedding, and thank you for having me capture it!

Amber & Dillion's Wedding by Kyla Jo Photography
Amber & Dillion’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful. Amber lost her mom to cancer and she honored her in the sweetest ways throughout her special day. She had a charm with a beautiful photo of her mother hanging on her bouquet the entire day. During the reception her and her sister danced to “Supermarket Flowers” in remembrance of their mom, she spoke before they danced and asked her guests to think about all of the good memories that they had of her mom so the room would be filled with those wonderful memories.
I took the supermarket flowers from the windowsill
I threw the day old tea from the cup
Packed up the photo album Matthew had made
Memories of a life that's been loved
Took the get well soon cards and stuffed animals
Poured the old ginger beer down the sink
Dad always told me, "don't you cry when you're down"
But mum, there's a tear every time that I blink
Oh I'm in pieces, it's tearing me up, but I know
A heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved
So I'll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you'd be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we'll say Hallelujah
You're home
I fluffed the pillows, made the beds, stacked the chairs up
Folded your nightgowns neatly in a case
John says he'd drive then put his hand on my cheek
And wiped a tear from the side of my face
I hope that I see the world as you did cause I know
A life with love is a life that's been lived
So I'll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you'd be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we'll say Hallelujah
You're home
Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
You got to see the person that I have become
Spread your wing
And I know that when God took you back he said Hallelujah
You're home

Mariah & Kohl Wedding at Cornerstone
Mariah & Kohl are so sweet and their wedding was absolutely classy and romantic. The two of them were surrounded with love the entire day, by their bridal party and family members. Cornerstone in downtown Muncie was absolutely beautiful with it’s murals and elegant stair ways. They could not have picked a more fitting venue for the two of them. Congratulations on your marriage and your future years together.

Katelyn & Jacob's Wedding Day // August 24, 2019
Katelyn & Jacob’s wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. Their venue was amazing with their ceremony right in front of a huge willow tree and an arch way her dad made for her. Both of their families were so supportive and sweet, their bridal party was so much fun to be around, and her best friend Dixie (her doggy) was next to her all day. It was a magical day with her gorgeous dress and smile and their love for one another. I was so so happy to capture their special day for them! I can not wait to see what their future holds for them!

Danielle & Mason - Engagement
Danielle & Mason are the sweetest couple, they drove about an hour for me to capture their engagement photos, and were so adventurous during their session (which I appreciate so much!) I love being able to capture my wedding couple's engagement photos as well, that gives us some time to get to know one another and get to know each other's personalities. After our session, they told me how happy they were that they had found me (which makes me so happy to hear).
I always try and make our sessions fun with cuddles and giggles. I will give my couples different scenarios to act out, which usually results in the best natural laughs EVER! This couple did every impression and scenario the best I have ever seen, they had me giggling behind my camera even and saying aww! You can really see their love for one another in all the smiles and sweet moments that I captured.
Here is just a sneak peek at your many photos! I am so excited to capture your wedding next year, YAY!

Leah & Devin Wedding Reception
Get you a man that looks at you like Devin looks at Leah! I loved being able to capture Leah & Devin’s second wedding reception. It poured rain on my drive there and snowed about 2 inches on my way home. Somewhere in between Indiana’s dramatic weather, we got about 40 minutes to capture family, bridal, and couple portraits outside! The Cope Environmental Center was such a modern and unique venue, I loved the modern architecture and the natural light pouring in from outside. These two are so sweet and laid back, and have so much love for one another. Here is a large sneak peek of their family portraits, couple portraits, and a few details from their wedding reception.

I am still trying to process this past weekend’s Reset Conference in Louisville Kentucky at the Seelbach. I started out my weekend with a shootout at the hotel with Tara Ruby, which was absolutely amazing. I will be sharing photos here soon, she worked with us on composites, props, bean bag poses and two adorable little babies who made great models. After leaving Tara’s shootout, I headed to the Heigold Facade with Vanessa Hicks at 5pm.
She had a gorgeous stylized shoot planned for all of us, with 3 different stations. My first station was the dining table with gorgeous place settings, a huge dining table, and beautiful florals. After leaving the dining table we photographed all of the stationary, details, shoes, and rings. I am such a big detail person, so this was my jam! Vanessa did an amazing job on collecting and bringing detail items for us to shoot and layout together. This is where we photographed the cake and huge sign against the old brick background. My final station was the bride and groom, luckily they were actually a real couple and engaged (we hit the jackpot)! Taylor and Tyler both were such good models, so sweet and cuddly. I loved the door way and industrial look of the location.
We were shooting in straight sun, but made the absolute best of it! Thank you so much Vanessa Hicks, for all of your hard work choosing and working with all of the vendors all the way from Hawaii.
This past weekend, I learned so much. I took so many notes, and have so many ideas to put towards my business. I got to attend so many talented photographers and business owner’s talks. (I included a list of the speakers and shootout leaders that I got the privilege of learning under, below.) Did I mention that I already bought my ticket for next years Reset Conference in Lexington? If you are a fellow photographer, you should definitely plan on coming next March 28-29th and meet and learn from some amazing and talented photographers.

Locations For Sessions
This blog post is for those of you who have scheduled a session with Kyla Jo Photography and now you are wondering, “Where should we have our session?”
These are some of the locations in Indiana and around Muncie that are some of my favorites. I will include reasons why I love these spots and which spots are best for families, seniors, pets, newborns, maternity, couples, and children sessions.
This blog post is for those of you who have scheduled a session with Kyla Jo Photography and now you are wondering, “Where should we have our session?”
These are some of the locations in Indiana and around Muncie that are my favorites or that I have shot at before. I will include reasons why I love these spots and which spots are best for families, seniors, pets, newborns, maternity, couples, and children sessions.
Whitetail Tree Farms
Whitetail Tree Farms is perfect for any winter session, when all of the trees are dead and there is not much color, the pine trees always make a gorgeous backdrop. During the fall, there are even more places to shoot with bright yellow trees, fence lines, and a cute pathway surrounded by trees.
Minnetrista Gardens
Minnetrista requires photographers to have a yearly pass to be able to shoot on their grounds, and I have one! YAY! Minnetrista is gorgeous in the spring with bright flowers and greenery everywhere. Minnetrista is great for families, with a simplistic nature feel, there are surrounding buildings that can be used as backdrops as well.
Reservoir
The reservoir has tons of locations, but I have found one that is gorgeous in the evening just before sunset! The trees are surrounding you, the water in the background, and the road is close by for some fun dipping and dancing shots! I would suggest this location in the evening just before sunset for the best lighting. If you are a little adventurous we can jump in the reservoir and capture some playful shots.
White River Water Fall & Park
If you are wanting to stick close to downtown Muncie, but want a little nature included in your session, this is the perfect classic spot. With a path lined with green shrubbery and an old building with steps for the family. Just across the road is Whiteriver, where shooting in the evening or on an overcast day is perfect. I have shot in the sun, pouring rain, cold and hot weather here at the park and I just love all of the outcomes!
Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory
This botanical garden is everything you could ever want for a senior session. Even though it is a little bit of a drive from Muncie Indiana, it is totally worth it! It is located in Fort Wayne, and has the most beautiful lighting and backdrops. I could spend hourssss here capturing your photos! If you are interested in a session here, there is a small travel fee, but like I said it is SO WORTH IT! Check out the website and all of the different gardens they offer.
Maplewood Golf Course (Location of Studio)
Maplewood is near and dear to my heart, as my studio is located just upstairs above the pro shop! Maplewood is perfect in the fall, with colors everywhere. Currently there is a huge tree that fell last year, we were all so sad, butttttt it makes for a really fun photo prop. There is also a tall grassy area for spring and summer shoots in the back of the course, your kids will love riding in the golf carts to get there! Of you are interested in getting a mixture of studio photos and outdoor photos, this is the perfect location for you.
Ball State University Quad
Ball State is pretty year round, with the old buildings and huge doorways. I usually meet at the art museum and go from there. The stair case is huge and is perfect for that large family photo, you have been wanting for years. Just around the building is a line of pine trees, that make for a great background in your family groupings or senior photos. I am very comfortable with campus (as a BSU Alumni) and know of other spots, such as the green house, fountain, village and a few others!
Leah & Devin // Engagement
Where do I start? The adorable puppy, their sweet love story, or the fact that I ended up with way too many photos of these two! I had such a blast capturing Leah and Devin’s engagement photos at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I met Leah in Art School (How fitting) and was so excited when she contacted me to photograph the two of them and their adorable puppers. These are just a handful of all of the great shots that we captured on such a cold and icy day, they were smiling and so much fun to work with, the entire time, even after I made them sit right on the icy cement! Congratulations to this sweet couple and I am so excited to see your future together!
