I had a blast at this BFF Session with Anastasia & her friends Ava, Brielle, Katie, Madison, and Meghan. It's hard to believe but I found this location within a minute from my house. Shooting this session, made me even more excited to work with my Senior Spokesmodel team. We laughed and jammed out to music and even danced a little! Thanks guys for trying out this new location with me, it turned out beautiful.

Autumn, Jarrod, & Brantley - Maternity & 18 Month Old Session
GUYS, how stinking cute is this family of soon to be 4!
This is the farthest along in pregnancy that I have captured maternity photos, to having to reschedule due to corona. This is the third time that I have photographed on Jerrod's parent's property, and it blows me away every time! I always find a new spot that is absolutely gorgeous. I can not wait to meet baby Emma and capture this family again.

What DETAILS To Have Ready For Your Photographer On Your Wedding Day
Are you a bride planning your wedding and trying to think ahead so you have little to no stress on your wedding day? This blog was written for you then! I talk about what to have prepared and laid out for your wedding photographer to make detail photos go smoothly and leave nothing out.
Are you a bride who wants to have everything planned out before your wedding day to help eliminate unnecessary stress and worries? Then this blog is written just for you!
I have photographed over 80 weddings over the past 4 years and I have worked with all different types of brides. Those who have had a packet typed out for me with detailed instructions and were so relaxed and prepared on their wedding day, some who winged it the day of and showed up late to their own wedding, and some who really just let me take full control. I LOVE THEM ALL! Though there is one thing that I have learned, when I arrive and can not find any of the details such as rings, jewelry, shoes, the dress, invites, perfume and earrings it takes away from time that I could be shooting and planning the detail shots and also seems to be stressful to the bride when they are running around trying to collect everything for me.
When I have arrived and everything was laid out, I got to dive right in and start planning the detail shots and dress photos without having to rush or bug the bride. If you are a bride, your photographer will thank you so much if you have everything laid out together on a table or in a box near the dress.
Now what are some items that you could think about including and having prepared?
His & Her wedding bands and the brideβs engagement ring ( I bring my own white velvet ring boxes or I can use personalized ones you have)
The wedding dress
If you have a personalized hanger or a nice wooden/velvet one
Invites if you want to include them (itβs a great way to include the date, location, and your names into your wedding photos effortlessly)
Earrings
Necklace
Bracelets
Bouquet
Shoes
Veil
Any sentimental items (lockets, something borrowed, something blue, something old)
Garter
Vows (always a personal touch)
Hair Clips
Perfume ( I have used the same type of perfume since I was in high school, so it is like a piece of me, so I would include it)
Any ribbons, accessories, flowers, or personal items that scream you!
Now, donβt feel like you have to include all of these! These are just suggestions that I have photographed in the past. I always tell my brides to wait to get in their dress until I have gotten photos of it hanging with the shoes and veil if there is one. I love capturing the bride getting in to their dress with the help of their mom or maid of honor. Waiting to put on your earrings, lipstick, bracelet, necklace, shoes, and veil are also a great idea until after you are in your dress. The photos of mom or grandma helping you get ready are priceless!

What to Wear to Your Photoshoot
So youβve booked a photo session with your photographer, now what should you wear? You have seen the outfit fails where everyone is to βmatchy matchyβ and the ones where they definitely did not coordinate with the rest of their family. I have been photographing now for over 8 years and I have seen so many styles come and go. I decided to put together a blog of my favorite Amazon finds! I ordered around 15 dresses to try on for a wedding and found some great pieces that I also included. I have had little clients in the studio, and asked their mommaβs where they found their adorable outfits, and their answer was Amazon. Enjoy!
So youβve booked a photo session with your photographer, now what should you wear? I have had little clients in the studio, and asked their mommaβs where they found their adorable outfits, and their answer was Amazon. Enjoy! (I have attached links below with photos and prices.)
What NOT to wear to a photoshoot
I am going to start out by saying, AVOID LOGOS! You donβt want to remember your family photos by PINK written across your chest or a popular Disney character on your little oneβs dress. Skip the baseball caps, neon colors, hoodies, and light up tennis shoes. Letβs focus on your faces and not whatβs on your clothes. Letβs use your clothes to compliment you and your surroundings.
Other than the huge brands, logos, and advertisements busy patterns and colors are also a no go. These busy patterns and neon colors can distract from the beauty that your photographer is capturing. Let the scenery and your faces be the center of attention. Your photographer will love and appreciate you so much!
One last thing to avoid is underdressing, you donβt need to show up in a ball gown or tux, but you will appreciate your photos so much more if you show up in a nice skirt, dress shirt, or flowy dress. Avoiding tank tops, jerseyβs, ball caps, and everyone wearing white t-shirts tucked into their jeans would be for the best.
What to wear to a photoshoot
So we have discussed what not to wear, now lets get to the good part of what to wear to your photo session!
What you wear will depend on what time of year it is, fall, winter, spring, or the middle of summer.
Accessories are not necessary, keep them to a minimum. Unless itβs a fancy hat, hatβs for women are fun to bring along and throw on for a few photos towards the end of your session.
Stick to solid, muted colorsβearthy tones, golden yellows, navy, maroons, muted gem tones, monochrome, and beige.
Flatter your figureβdonβt wear clothes that are too tight or too baggy, or clothes that accentuate your insecurities. Wear something you feel comfortable and beautiful in!
Wear sleeves or quarter-sleeves, depending on the weather. I know one of my biggest insecurities is my upper arms, when I had my professional photos taken I wore sleeves and felt so much more confident. Covering your arms may take the focus away from them and flatter their shape at the same time.
Dress in long skirts, pants, or dresses. Long flowy dresses photograph so beautifully, and you will have so much fun wearing one and twirling around no matter how old you are!
Wear your hair how you like it and feel most beautiful, I would suggest to avoid pony tails and doing something more natural and flowy. A good loose curl is always beautiful.
Coordinate your clothingβin group photos, try to keep everyone wearing 2-4 colors. I really suggest picking 2 colors as your base and having everyone somehow coordinate that into their outfits and the branching out with 2-3 more colors and connecting everyone with those. If that is a hair bow, vest, boot, or undershirt. Have dad wear NAVY with a YELLOW undershirt, mom wear YELLOW and BLUE JEANS, Daughter wear a YELLOW AND NAVY Dress, and son wear NAVY plaid. These are great ways to color coordinate and also can throw a couple colors into the mix such as maroon hair bow or shoes.
I have went through and selected AFFORDABLE and stylish outfits (with direct links) that I have photographed in previous sessions or bought myself. To visit the link, click on the photos below.

Tips on Booking Your Senior Session and a Look into Hanna Padget's Session
When booking your session with me, evening times are best for lighting and coloring of your skin! The closer to sunset the more gorgeous tones we will get in your images.
Bring multiple outfits, bring a fun dress that is flowy, a dressy shirt and jeans, and then something that is your go to outfits such as a jean jacket and boots or your favorite band teeβ¦β¦.
Going back through my past sessions during quarantine 2020 and sharing some sessions that may not have gotten shared during busy seasons. This one is Hanna, she graduated from Delta High School. We did a 2 location session together with 3 outfits. We started at Tuhey park in Muncie, Indiana and then headed to Maplewood Golf Course. I brought my drone out at the end and got a handful of shots of her laying in the woods in tall grass. It was such a fun session together!
Some tips for scheduling your senior session:

Bring multiple outfits, bring a fun dress that is flowy, a dressy shirt and jeans, and then something that is your go to outfits such as a jean jacket and boots or your favorite band tee.
Locations are always changing throughout the seasons, so the same location may look different in the fall than it does in the spring. I will ask you if you have a specific location in mind but if you donβt then I ask you your style and what look you are going for and then I will list off a variation of locations depending on you and what you are looking for.
If you are wanting a session in the fall, BOOK EARLY! Fall time weekends book up super fast and super early. Spring time is usually more open as well as winter months of course. Summer depends on how many weddings I have. Just shoot me a message and we can decide how early you should book depending on when you are wanting your session.
How too book? Once we talk, I will shoot you a link to fill out about yourself and your tastes. I will then shoot you a link to book your session, this will be a 50% booking deposit to save your date and book your session. The remainder of the session price will be due the day of your session.
Delivery: You will receive a sneak peek within a week of your session and then the remainder of your session within a month on an online gallery with a download code to download all of your photos.
Printing: You are welcome to download all of your photos and print where you choose, but I do offer PROFESSIONAL prints that you can order directly from your online gallery. I offer high quality photo albums, prints, and super durable canvases in lots of sizes.
Flash drives: You have the option to add a flash drive to your package. Flash drives are $50 and come in a wooden box with a fancy crystal and wooden flash drive inside with all of your high resolution images to keep forever!
Quarantine 2020
Whoever thought I would be writing a blog about Quarantine 2020?
Who ever thought I would be writing a blog about Quarantine 2020?
It has been roughβ¦
Staying home has not been hard at all, I want to stay home and protect others, my family, friends, and my own health. What has been rough has been handling everything else that happens in life every day while having to distance myself from those who are always there for me. I just want to give my mom and grandma a BIG HUG!
My boyfriend had a seizure last week and instead of taking him to the ER or his family coming to see him after, I had to call everyone and explain what happened and sit with him until he was back to normal. Instead of him being able to get into the neurologist like normal, we are having to wait until things are back to normal until he can get tests done and checked out. Who knows when that will be?
I still have not gotten my stimulus check, nor unemployment due to being self employed. 4 weddings have been rescheduled or cancelled and 20+ sessions have had to be rescheduled or have completely cancelled. Ball State University who I normally photograph their graduation and different events, have cancelled all of those.
These things are so little in comparison to what people have gone through who have gotten Covid-19 or lost someone during this time. I donβt write this to complain, but to vent and share my thoughts during this time. I know that everyone has their struggles and I think it is best to share those but also keep your head up and look at the positives.
So here are some of my positives during Quarantine 2020:
-I finally got my greenhouse built and plants planted! WOOHOO
-I am getting caught up on editing and sending sessions out
-I have taken some self portraits, pet portraits, nature, and more which I am sharing in this post
-Cory and I have gotten to spend some quality time together
-I have found a way to make enough money to pay my bills during this time with commissioning drawings and emailing them to people, yay for having different tastes and interests!
-We have saved lots of money, since I am cooking at home every day and not eating out
I personally think that it is not time yet to open things up, I think we should be cautious to getting back to βnormalβ. I donβt want to rush anything and anyone I love or care about be put at risk. So at this time I am still not shooting. Delaware County has not lifted the non essential ban on businesses even though Indiana is a little more lenient and announcing that photographers can go back to shooting. So as of now, I am not shooting but will be announcing as soon as I am!
Thank you everyone for for your patience and understanding!
Custom Line Drawings, During Covid-19 Isolation
Since I can not currently photograph my clients, I found another way to use my creativity to give back to my clients during this time and make a living (yay for having so many interests)!I am creating line drawings from your favorite photos. I have lots of i-phone photographs that are not great quality of Cory and I, and I used one to create a piece to hang in our bedroom.I also have been creating pieces for others from their favorite photo they had taken from either me or another photographer. Here are some samples of my work! If you are interested in having one done, here are all of the details and how to order one:

I am creating line drawings from your favorite photos. I have lots of i-phone photographs that are not great quality of Cory and I, and I used one to create a piece to hang in our bedroom. This was a great way to savor that photo, that just was not quite good enough to hang on my wall.
I also have been creating pieces for others from their favorite professional photo they had taken from either me or another photographer. Here are some samples of my recent work I have created in the past week. If you are interested in having one done, here are all of the details and how to order one:
For a single person itβs $10, a couple itβs $15 and for up to 4 people itβs $20.
You just send me the photo, the color you would want the background, and your email for me to send the drawing to.
You can pay through Venmo, when you send me the information and once you pay I will start working on your portraits.
If you want the background color to be pulled from your photo just let me know which color you want (ex: like from your shirt).
It is best to include a photo that has some specific details, since these are faceless portraits. (ex: a hat, more than just your face, or a fun pattern)
My Venmo is @kylajotighe
My email is kylajotighe@gmail.com
The current wait time for the drawings are just under a week.
Thank you so much, for your support during this time!
Booking Your Wedding Photographer
Are you planning a wedding in 2020 or 2021? There are so many choices when it comes to choosing all of your vendors, it can get a bit overwhelming. I would love to tell you a little bit about what you can expect from booking Kyla Jo Photography as your wedding photographer.
Are you planning a wedding?
There are so many choices when it comes to choosing all of your vendors, it can get a bit overwhelming. I would love to tell you a little bit about what you can expect from booking Kyla Jo Photography as your wedding photographer. But first, I am going to tell you a little bit about me, or you can keep scrolling down (I wonβt be offended!)
My name is Kyla Jo Tighe, and I will have photographed over 100 weddings after 2020. I graduated from Wapahani High school in 2012, and graduated from Ball State University in 2017 with my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Photography. I am a full time photographer based out of Muncie, Indiana but love to travel!
Iβm a lover of ALL animals, the outdoors, chicken nuggets and pizza, Diet Pepsi, jeggings, & throwback 90βs hip-hop playlists on Spotify. I love to be outdoors (especially in the fall), you will find me (when I am not photographing) at an Indiana state park exploring new places with my boyfriend and doggos in our camper.
I have a 6.5 year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (Kip), a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute (Carbon), an 18 pound Maine Coon Cat (Mugsy), & an alien one eared cat (Lil Dipper). These guys are my entire world, believe me I would take all the animals home with me if I could!
Enough about me, back to booking your wedding and what to expect from me!
β€οΈTimeless photos that document your special day and gorgeous portraits of the two of you. I capture a mixture of candids and natural portraits so that you have a variety of photos.
β€οΈA LARGE preview within a week of your wedding that has every family photo, bridesmaid, groomsmen, and highlight of your wedding day included (I might go a little overboard on the previews, but I get so excited and want to include every little bit of your wedding day in them!)
β€οΈA photographer who is not only your photographer, but your friend, dress fluffer, hair fixer, supporter, and will giggle and genuinely tear up with you throughout your wedding day!
β€οΈA timeline that I customize just for you and your wedding day! No wedding is the same, and that is why I don't charge by the day but by the hour. No cookie cutter timeline, I sit down with you and go through your family portraits, how many people you have in your bridal party, what you expect from your wedding and what you don't want! I then create your timeline so that you don't feel rushed and you get to enjoy every little bit of your day.
β€οΈI also offer professional high quality prints, canvases, and albums that I customize for you and order so you can show off in your home for the rest of your lives and/or gift for your family members.
β€οΈI am not just a wedding photographer, I capture engagements, maternity, family, newborn, children, seniors, and pets. That means, that once your wedding is over you don't have to start the process all over again...I am a lifetime photographer, I can capture all of your special moments from when you say I do until your child graduates from high school. I love staying connected with my clients and watching their love grow into families.
Here is a little run through of what the process looks like when booking Kyla Jo Photography:
1. Booking & Planning
Upon inquiring with Kyla Jo Photography, you will receive my wedding pricing and contract with all of the details you need to know about pricing and package options. After looking over my pricing and contract, we can schedule a time to meet at Starbucks or my photo studio. When we meet I will bring worksheets for us to go over and fill out together and will help create a schedule for your special day. You are welcome to sign and book your wedding that day in person, or take it home and mail it in at a later date. Once things are booked and weβre officially official, we will begin planning all of the fun details for your engagement shoot!
2. Engagement Session
The fun begins! After working together to choose the perfect location, we will spend an hour or more together to shoot your engagement photos! Your only job during our session is to cuddle up and smile with your fiance - I will lead you through posing for the entire shoot and tell you lame jokes to make you laugh. This is a time for us to get to know one another, get comfortable working together and allow you to spend time together in front of the camera with no stress! These photos will be back to you within a month and ready to print or create a guest album for your wedding day. (Engagement sessions are not included in your wedding booking, but you receive half off your engagement session when you book Kyla Jo Photography for your wedding!)
3. Final Phone Call or Email
As your wedding day approaches, I will be available to help with anything and everything you need - vendor recommendations, timeline preparation, planning suggestions and more. When we are just a few weeks out we will plan a phone call, if you are comfortable with all of the schedule and details we can just email back and forth. We do all of this to finalize timelines and answer last-minute questions. That way, you can wake up on your wedding day entirely stress free and ready to marry that man of your dreams!
4. Your BIG Day
Your BIG day is finally here, YAY! My goal on your wedding day is to ensure that it is as fun, easy and stress-free as possible, so that you can take it all in. I will be there to capture every moment, from beginning to end, so that you have memories to last your lifetime and your childrenβs childrenβs lifetime.
5. Gallery Delivery
You will receive a sneak peek of your wedding day within a week of your wedding. Your sneak peek will be on the blog and on Facebook for you to share with your friends and family. You can expect to receive your final finished gallery approximately 8 weeks following your wedding day. Your beautifully displayed online gallery is where you are able to download, share and print all of the high-resolution digital files. You will also receive a physical flash drive with your print release.
6. Album Design
I offer a variety of different style and sized wedding albums, I will bring several of them with me to our first meeting so that you can see some of the choices. We will work together to create beautifully designed spreads, choose cover options and finalize details for your album before itβs printed. Along with the albums, I offer professionally printed photo canvases and prints for your walls at home. I believe that your photos should be printed and preserved for you to share with others and flipped through with your family.
Now what is this going to cost us?
β¨2020 wedding packages with high resolution digital files, a flash drive, online gallery, and print release begin at $600 for 2 hours up to $3,000 for a full 10 hours. Your wedding day is not the same as everyone elseβs, that is why I allow you to create and customize how long you book with me. With a minimum of 2 hours, I am flexible to fit your special day.
All packages include a flash drive with all of your edited images, a print release, and online gallery with full resolution images to share, download and the option to order professional quality prints, albums, and canvases.
For more information about wedding packages, email me at kylajotighe@gmail.com or fill out the form below, and I will reach out as quickly as possible.
I look forward to sitting down with you and talking about you special day!
The Burch Family at Whitetail Tree Farm
I captured this sweet family a couple of weeks ago at Whitetail Tree Farm and had such a fun time working with all of them! Before all of the craziness struck and we were all stuck inside our houses, I am so glad that I got to capture this family's love for one another.

Mother Daughter Cake Smash
This was definitely a UNIQUE yet AWESOME session with Heather Crabtree and her pretty girls! I loved getting to work with them for a second time now and learn their individual personalities. They all have their birthdays within a month of each other, so they wanted to share a cake smash together, which is SUCH A COOL IDEA! I love the one of all of the girls digging into mom's cake, I feel like that is probably the most realistic "mom life" photo! They celebrated their dad, Travis who passed away by bringing a photo of him and also getting him a cake with his name on it. Such a sweet way to celebrate his life with his daughters!

Rhys: 4 Month Studio Photos
Rhys turned 4 months old!
To be honest, I don't photograph a lot of babies between the age of newborn and 6 months old. BUT this session with Rhys, made me want to photograph all of the 4 month olds! His mom and dad brought the CUTEST little bonnets and stockings to his session, I ordered this gorgeous Moses basket, and he was the most perfect little model.
Rhys turned 4 months old & I have BABY FEVER!
To be honest, I don't photograph a lot of babies between the age of newborn and 6 months old. BUT this session with Rhys, made me want to photograph all of the 4 month olds in the studio!
His mom and dad brought the CUTEST little bonnets and stockings to his session, I ordered this gorgeous vintage styled moses basket from Tadpoles, and Rhys was the most perfect little model.
If you are looking to get your 4 month old photographed in the studio in Muncie, Indiana Kyla Jo Photography would love to capture your little oneβs photos.

Danielle & Mason's Winter Wedding
Danielle & Mason were married on Saturday January 4th at church and had their beautiful reception at the Van Buren Event Center in Columbia City. The two of them wrote the sweetest love letters to one another and read them aloud to each other at their first look at a little park under some tall pine trees. I had an amazing time capturing their love for one another throughout the entire day.

Sierra & Zach with their Dog
I photographed Sierra & Zach a year ago at Whitetail Tree Farm and loved working with the two of them, so when they reached out about another round of photos and told me they were bringing their doggy, I was so excited!

Family Photos at a Snowy Tree Farm
I have known McKenzie Meadows since kindergarten when she lived two doors down from me and we jumped on her bed listening to "I'm Blue" on MTV and rode together to Mrs. Gobble's glass at Grissom. I moved to Selma in first grade and then met Caine Orme and have known him ever since. Never would I have imagined these two would find each other, but they are amazing together! McKenzie has taken in little Layla and loves her like her own. I am so happy for this adorable little family and I had a blast capturing their photos in the freezing snow! Thanks guys for being crazy with me and braving the snow! Whitetail Tree Farm is extra gorgeous in the winter with all of this snow!

Austin & Ariana's Wedding at the Delaware Country Club
When a couple loves like this couple loves one another, capturing their wedding day is just so easy! Any moment they could be kissing and holding each other, they were. From the moment I saw these two together, I knew they were meant to be. They love one another so effortlessly and that showed through in all of their wedding photos. It was reallllly windy and chilly out on their wedding day, but Austin Burton wrapped Ariana up in her coat and carried her from spot to spot, he played her a song on his guitar, and admired her the entire day. I have known Austin since we were young, and this is the happiest I have ever seen him. Congratulations you two on a beautiful wedding, and future together! Thanks for being such troopers in the cold and making me ohh and ahhh over you guys all day!

Ruthie & Anthony's Wedding at The Carriage House of Yorktown
Ruthie & Anthony were married at The Carriage House of Yorktown, and it was such an elegant and classy day with such beautiful fall weather. Ruthie had such a special way of including her father and mother in her wedding day. She did a first look with her dad after her mom helped her into her wedding dress, she did a dance with her dad and then surprised her mom with a special dance that brought her to tears, and both parents gave such sweet speeches at the reception. It was an amazing day at such a gorgeous venue. All of the bridal party were so much fun to work with and so supportive through out their special day. Thank you guys for having me capture your wedding day and also having the photo booth at your reception, you have so many fun photos from all of your guests! Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon!

Marissa & Josh's Wedding At The Ballroom At Cardinal Hills
Marissa & Josh Jones were married at The Ballroom at Cardinal Hillβs on October 12, 2019 and their entire day was absolutely magical. Marissa was an absolute QUEEN! The two of them prayed with their bridal party, worshipped during their ceremony, cut pie in place of their cake, and had the most beautiful vows written to each other. Their love for one another showed throughout every moment of their wedding day and I can not wait to see what the future holds for the two of them, I know it will be AMAZING! Danielle and Drake's Wedding At The Barn at Cottonwood with Kyla Jo Photography
Danielle & Drake were married on October 5, 2019 at The Barn at Cottonwood in Parker City, Indiana. They are high school sweethearts and had the two most adorable doggies who were included on their special day. Their bridal party was so much fun to photograph and a huge part of their day. I think I laughed and smiled more at their reception than I ever have before, the dance floor was full almost the entire time! Thank you Danielle & Drake for having me capture your wedding day, I might have went a little over board with your preview! Woops!

Marc Lost a Bet, Boots (The Cat) Got a Photo Session with Marc
Marc lost a bet to his girlfriend, his girlfriend Mallory came up with a great idea, she then tweeted this idea and a mutual friend tagged me, I of course said yes letβs do this, Marc and Boots were equally unhappy with the photo shoot, oh and did I mention Marc is allergic to cats!? Thanks Mallory for coming up with this amazing idea and thanks Marc for not being a sore loser.
